Project of the Day: 'The Curse of Don Scarducci'

Here’s your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

“The Curse of Don Scarducci”

Logline: Life is good for Don, a rough and tumble mobster, until the day he discovers his intolerance to gluten.

Elevator Pitch: What’s the one thing you couldn’t give up? Money? Love? Well, imagine trying to give up wheat…for the rest of your life. On top of that, what if your family said you couldn’t? You try to persuade them but they just laugh at you until one day, at your wits end, you finally decide to go against every moral code your family has ever instilled in you. In the end you feel great, a new life, but then the family finds out. What do you do when that family, is the mob?

Production Team:

Chris Fondulas – Writer, Director (Promo), Editor, Producer – past work includes sound man for “30 Rock,” “Bored to Death,” “Stella”
Jessie Hoyt – Producer, Partner for Life/Wife, and Creative Inspiration for the story
Andy Voegeli, S.O.C. – Director of Photography; “Breaking Bad,” “30 Rock,” “The Michael J. Fox Show”
Jim Canty – Producer of short films and music videos, HSI Agency London
Lloyd Bishop – Still Photographer (images from promo), Staff Photographer at “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon”
Kristyn Macready- Producer

the Production:  The Curse of Don Scarducci was born out of my wife’s trip to the doctor. A simple diagnosis of celiac disease in 2006 left her searching for answers as to why she couldn’t eat bread, or drink beer anymore. This story of my wife’s condition has been the subject of much ridicule, and comedic release, but mostly annoyances throughout the past eight years, and was thus adapted into The Curse of Don Scarducci – the story of a mobster turned upside down by the shortness of his one true staple in life: gluten.

Current Status: Post-production. Currently in fundraising mode.
