Just ahead of its Saturday premiere in the SXSW Visions section, Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions (SPWA) have acquired all international rights on writer-director Jack Plotnick’s comedy ‘Space Station 76.’ The film stars Patrick Wilson, Liv Tyler and “2001: A Space Odyssey” star Keir Dullea.
Domestic rights are still up for grabs via Kevin Iwashina and Zac Bright of Preferred Content.
SPACE STATION 76 is a comedic drama about a group of people (and several robots) living on a space station in a 1970’s-version of the future. When a new Assistant Captain arrives, she inadvertently ignites tensions among the crew, prompting them to confront their darkest secrets. Barely contained lust, jealousy, and anger all bubble to the surface, becoming just as dangerous as the asteroid that’s heading right for them.
The film was produced by Edward Parks, Rachel Ward, Dan Burks, Joel Michaely and Katherine Ann McGregor. Niraj Bhatia and Frank Mele serve as executive producers.
