Billy Crystal brings his Tony-winning Broadway one-man show “700 Sundays” to HBO on Saturday, April 19th. The autobiographical production is about Crystal’s childhood and his relationship with his father, who died when he was 15. The HBO special is pulled together from two performances, taped January 3rd and 4th at the Imperial Theatre in New York.
Crystal has a long history with HBO — “700 Sundays” is his sixth solo special on the network, following “On Location,” “A Comics Line,” “Don’t Get Me Started,” “The Lost Minutes” and “Midnight Train to Moscow.” He also created HBO’s ’90s comedy series “Sessions,” starring Elliott Gould and Michael McKean.
