While Steven Soderbergh may be retired from the big screen, he’s been hard at work directing all ten episodes of original series “The Knick,” starring Clive Owen. Four tantalizing, blood-laced teasers have arrived for the show, which puts a turn-of-the-century spin on the medical drama genre. Check it all out, below.
The series is set in 1900 at the Knickerbocker Hospital in New York, focusing on the doctors and nurses who work there around the clock — and without the conveniences of modern medicine. Hence all the blood. Plus, as the Playlist points out, composer Cliff Martinez (“Drive,” “Only God Forgives”) is scoring. He previously collaborated with Soderbergh on “Contagion.” How many promising elements can one show have?
“The Knick” is coming this summer on Cinemax. No official release date yet.
