Applications are now open for the Directors Guild’s 20th
Annual DGA Student Film Awards.
Now in its 20th year, the DGA’s Student Film Awards seek to
put a spotlight on diversity, with dozens of African American, Asian American,
Latino, and women filmmakers having been past recipients of the top prizes.
Winners in each category receive a $2,500 cash prize, with
their films screened in a special ceremony at the DGA Theater. Winners of the jury awards in each category
receive $1,000 and screen clips of their films at the DGA.
Recent Indie Spirit
winner Ryan Coogler (“Fruitvale Station”) is a previous recipient of the Student
Prize.
The application period runs from April 7 through October 6, 2014, with
