MTV and Logo TV are partnering with Laverne Cox (Orange is the New Black) for a forthcoming documentary, Trans Teen: The Documentary, which will air simultaneously on MTV and Logo in the fall.
Hosted by Laverne Cox – and airing simultaneously on MTV & Logo TV – the one-hour documentary will take viewers inside the lives of four trans youth – young people who, until recently, may not have even felt safe sharing their lives with others.
Details from the press release:
Ranging in age from 14 to 24, and hailing from diverse neighborhoods across America, each of the four cast members has their own unique story to tell. But this isn’t a story about being an “other” – it’s about . They all share the courage and determination to live their lives authentically, as the person they were meant to be. With varying levels of parental and social support, they will share their brave journeys as they learn to overcome challenges like intolerance, bullying and general confusion about who and what they are. We’ll see them try to help friends, family and, ultimately, America, understand what’s happening and why. And we will follow them as they deal with the medical, psychological, and social hurdles they face.
Trans Teen: The Documentary is executive produced by Laverne Cox, Marshall Eisen, Betsy Forhan (for MTV and Logo TV), Cheryl Horner Sirulnick (for Gigantic! Productions), Michael Hirschorn (for Ish Entertainment) and Eric Miclette.
The Netflix hit original series Laverne Cox stars in – Orange Is The New Black – returns for a second season on Friday, June 6, 2014 exclusively on Netflix in all territories where Netflix is available. That will be a binge-watching weekend for many of you, I’m sure.
