UPDATE: The Weinsteins’ boutique label RADiUS has given a day-and-date to Charlie McDowell’s buzzy Sundance sci-fi relationship dramedy “The One I Love,” which stars Elisabeth Moss and Mark Duplass as an unhappily married couple who try to sort out their issues over a long weekend at a bucolic vacation home prescribed by their marriage counselor (Ted Danson). Let’s just say they discover way more than they bargained for.

The film will hit theaters on August 15. It’s currently playing the Tribeca Film Festival.

EARLIER: RADiUS, Weinstein Co.’s multi-platform VOD and theatrical distribution label, has scooped up world rights to rookie director Charlie McDowell’s twisty relationship drama “The One I Love,” produced by the Duplass brothers and starring Elisabeth Moss and Mark Duplass. They play a married couple who are struggling to recapture their romance at a relaxing California retreat. He’s had an affair and they can’t seem to reignite their passion–until they encounter some strange goings on that are difficult to understand. Ted Danson, stepfather of the director, plays their shrink. The movie debuted Tuesday night.

“The One I Love” was written by Justin Lader and produced by Mel Eslyn.  The film was executive produced by Mark Duplass, Jay Duplass, Charlie McDowell and Lader. RADiUS has slated a fourth quarter 2014 release.

“Films like ‘The One I Love’ do not come around often,” said RADiUS co-presidents Tom Quinn and Jason Janego.

“Tom and Jason from RADiUS.. are true pioneers in the new ways we are seeing movies,” said Mark Duplass. “And we look forward to surprising audiences with this unique film.”

Quinn, Janego and Jason Wald, Manager of Acquisitions, negotiated the deal with Submarine and ICM Partners.   ICM Partners represents McDowell, Mark & Jay Duplass and Justin Lader.

RADiUS-TWC has released such films as “Bachelorette” and “Only God Forgives” and Oscar nominated doc “20 Feet from Stardom.”
