Cannes: Sundance Selects Enters Mathieu Amalric's 'Blue Room'

Sundance Selects has acquired North American rights to Mathieu Amalric’s “The Blue Room,” which had its world premiere this week in the Un Certain Regard section of the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.

Here’s the plot synopsis per Sundance Selects:

“The Blue Room” is a mysterious noir that follows a man and a woman as
they meet in a hotel for trysts. In the afterglow, they share a few
sweet nothings. At least the man seemed to believe they were nothing.
Suddenly under investigation by the police, the man
must figure out what happened, and of what exactly is he accused?

Amalric is proving to be as formidable as a filmmaker as he is an actor,”
President of Sundance Selects/IFC Films Jonathan Sehring said in a statement. “This is a superlative film.”

The deal for the film was negotiated by Arianna Bocco, Senior Vice
President of Acquisitions & Productions for Sundance Selects/IFC
Films with producer Paolo Branco on behalf of ALFAMA FILMS.

No release date has been announced as of yet.
