In case you were too busy watching the Spidey numbers come in this weekend, Fox Searchlight’s “Belle” was a sensational surprise in its initial openings. The film, which is directed by Amma Asante and stars British TV actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw,Emily Watson, Matthew Goode and Tom Wilkinson, amassed $104,000 in 4 locations. The film adds ten markets this week, thereby upping its location count to 35-40, and then continues expansion on 5/16 into 100-150 theatres.
