** Disney delves into the distribution plan vault and will have sneaks (yes sneaks, remember those???) on “Million Dollar Arm”, the story of two cricketeers in India recruited to be baseball pitchers by scout Jon Hamm. the film will be released May 16th.
** Two Jeff’s (Shell/Bewkes) and a Les (Moonves) took another Jeff (Katzenberg) to task this week at the Milken Institute Global Conference, where the Dreamworks head announced that “movies are no longer a growth business”. Katzenberg then proceeded to extoll the possibilities that television presented going forward from 2014 (that is, after he signed the $57 million write-down on “Mr. Peabody & Sherman”)
** “Doctor Who”‘s Matt Smith has come on board Paramount’s “Terminator” trilogy reboot. Smith’s role will be rather small in the first installment but he will be prominently featured in episodes 2 & 3 of the series.
** It was announced that Joaquin Phoenix has signed to star in Woody Allen’s next untitled film. Well, not the next untitled Woody Allen film but the untitled one thereafter. Oh never mind.

** Veteran Bob Hoskins died Thursday at the age of 71. Hoskins was best known for his role in “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?”, along with his breakout role in “The Long Good Friday” and the superb “Mona Lisa”
** Bond 24 reportedly will not be a direct sequel to “Skyfall” but the two films will be connected somehow. It marks only the second time in Bond history that two films have overlapping stories, with “Casino Royale” and “Quantum of Solace” being the only other time. Just as an FYI, star Daniel Craig is signed for Bond’s 24 & 25.
** Missing Fox Distribution sales manager Gavin Smith was officially declared dead by LAPD last Thursday. It was two years to the day that Smith went missing (5/1/12).
** On a happier note for Fox, social media buzz is through the roof on their rom/drama, “The Fault In Our Stars”, the latest film to take a shot at the ever unpredictable Young Adult audiences. The movie has been top trending on Twitter for weeks now and the holding power of “Divergent” shows us that its star Shailene Woodley, who headlines here along with Ansel Elgort, is a major star with tween/teen audiences. The film opens June 6th.
