In an attempt to maybe make up for the last post on this blog being about Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy discussing who would be the top and bottom in their fictional relationship, we figured we’d alert you to something a little more… constructive? Because the incomparable Sarah Schulman has written this piece for Slate about Canada’s vicious HIV non-disclosure laws, and it’s a definite must-read. Especially for the many Americans who aren’t aware that their neighbours to the North are increasingly becoming more conservative than them in many horrifying aspects (or worse, Canadians that aren’t aware of what Schulman notes).

“There are currently 34 million people in the world who are HIV positive,” Schulman writes. “Every one of them was directly or indirectly infected by someone. Yet, Canada has decided to respond to this common human experience with punishment.” Read on.
