"Neighbors" Rages To $51 Million Opener. "ASM2", "Moms" and "Dorothy" Left In The Dust

After a terrific opening Friday night, the frat boys of “Neighbors” asked, Thank you sir may I have another?”.  The answer was a resounding “yes” as a strong Saturday pushed the Seth Rogen, Zac Efron comedy to a hefty $51 million haul.  I have heard from several moviegoers who agreed with the overall B Cinemascores but you have to give Universal’s marketing department their kudos, the film far outpaced what was expected.

Placed on Double Secret Probation were “Amazing Spider-Man 2”, which fell almost 60%, and “Legends of Oz”, I still can’t figure out why anyone thought this was going to do $10-12 million, who couldn’t break past the $5 million weekend barrier.  Full details below..
