Apparently it IS easy being green. Warners’ “Godzilla” obliterates the Friday box office with a $39 million take which should bring the three day close to $100 million. That would make it the highest grossing movie of the year so far (we’ll see how long that lasts with “X-Men: Days of Future Past” opening Friday) but what a terrific start. Imax’s percentage of the last night’s take was huge as it totaled $6.7 million. Here’s how it looks this morning. We’ll have an update tomorrow morning,
1. GODZILLA–Warners Brothers–$96 million
2. NEIGHBORS—Universal—$25 million
3. AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2—Sony—$14.5 million
4. MILLION DOLLAR ARM—BV—$10.2 million
5. THE OTHER WOMAN—Fox—$6.7 million
6. HEAVEN IS FOR REAL–Sony/TS—$4.6 million
7. RIO 2—Fox—$3.8 million
8. CAPTAIN AMERICA: WINTER SOLDIER—BV—$3.7 million
9. MOMS NIGHT OUT—Sony/TS—$2.4 million
10. LEGENDS OF OZ—Clarius—$2.1 million
