Party On, Dudes! “Neighbors” Nabs $50 Million Haul

Party On, Dudes! "Neighbors" Nabs $50 Million Haul

So much for the Battle of Hollywood this weekend.  “Neighbors” partied their way to a stunning take of almost $20 million last night, which means Zac Efron and the his frat brothers might reach $50 million for the three day weekend, thereby planting their flag firmly in the #1 spot.  The only small source of concern is an overall B Cinemascore on the film.  We’ll see if that has any effect on the three day take or subsequent holdover periods.

The Friday haul from “Neighbors” easily outdistanced “Amazing Spider-Man 2” which grossed roughly $10.5 million last night and should end up around $35 million for the weekend.  Here are the morning estimates

1.   NEIGHBORS–Universal–$50.0 million

2.   AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2–Sony–$36.0 million–Down 60%

3.   THE OTHER WOMAN–Fox–$9.5 million–Down 39%

4.   HEAVEN IS FOR REAL–Sony/Tri-Star–$6.0 million–Down 30%

5.   CAPTAIN AMERICA: WINTER SOLDIER–BV–$5.8 million–Down 26%

6.   RIO 2—Fox—$5.5 million–Down 26%

7.   MOMS NIGHT OUT–Sony/Tri-Star–$4.5 million

8.   LEGENDS OF OZ:DOROTHY’S RETURN–Clarius–$4.2 million

9.   BRICK MANSIONS–Relativity–$1.7 million–Down 54%

10. DIVERGENT–Lionsgate–$1.5 million–Down 28%
