In one of the first big deals at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, Variety reports that Sony Pictures Classics has acquired “Saint Laurent,” the biopic of French famed designer Yves Saint Laurent, which is set to premiere in competition at Cannes.
Directed by Bertrand Bonello, the biopic (no, not the one that premiered at Berlin where it was acquired by The Weinstein Company), was produced by Eric and Nicolas Altmayer at Mandarin and EuropaCorp, which also handles international sales and will distribute in France. The film features last
year’s Palme D’Or winner “Blue Is the Warmest Color” star Lea Seydoux, along with Gaspard Ulliel, Louis Garrel, Helmut Berger and Dominique Sanda.
