Watch: Clip from Jim Mickle's Thriller 'Cold in July' Starring Michael C. Hall

In Jim Mickle’s newest film “Cold in July,” Michael C. Hall stars as a man who shoots and kills a burglar who has intruded into his home in 1989 Texas. What happens next is traditional Minkle fare, similar to his previous films such as “Mulberry Street” and “We Are What We Are,” but on a more human level (and without the cannibalism).

Hall believes that, as a result of his actions, his own son is in danger. The father of the man he killed (played by the always powerful Sam Shepard) is plotting revenge, but no one is willing to help protect them. In this clip, which was released to ComingSoon.net, he tries to convince the police that he and his son are targets, with the veracity that any father might have in this situation, but what will it take for the authorities to acknowledge the threat?

Star of the Showtime series “Dexter,” Hall and co-writer Nick Damici star in the clip. The movie is set for theatrical release and on-demand streaming on May 23.
