The last time we saw Nadav Lapid on the festival circuit was with his Israeli drama “Policeman” in 2011, which he workshopped at Cannes Atelier. Now his French feature “The Kindergarten Teacher” has come to Cannes 2014, and the trailer alone brims over with rainstorms, melancholy, and risk.
When a kindergarten teacher notices that her exceptionally bright 5-year-old student writes advanced poetry, she wants his talent publicly recognized. But there’s opposition and even peril in her way when she tries to encourage him beyond the boundaries of the classroom.
