Watch: ‘How To Tell Black People Apart’ By David Alan Grier

Watch: 'How To Tell Black People Apart' By David Alan Grier

We missed this when it happened about a couple of weeks ago; but better late than never.

As a quick recap, you’ll recall when Samuel L. Jackson took a Los Angeles reporter to task after the reporter appeared to confuse the actor with Laurence Fishburne.

Said Jackson during the live TV interview: “We don’t all look alike. We may be all black and famous, but we all don’t look alike. You’re busted.”

The outburst momentarily stunned CNN affiliate KTLA’s Sam Rubin, who had asked Jackson what the reaction was to his Super Bowl commercial.

Rubin did own up to the mistake, and he apologized repeatedly, but that didn’t stop Jackson from digging into him even further.

“I’m the other guy,” he said. “There’s more than one black guy doing a commercial. I’m the ‘What’s in your wallet?’ black guy. He’s the car black guy. Morgan Freeman is the other credit card black guy. You only hear his voice, though, so you probably won’t confuse him with Laurence Fishburne.”

The clip eventually went viral (of course), and we all had a good chuckle at it (most of us anyway).

In response, David Alan Grier teamed up with Jimmy Kimmel to pile on even more, and produced the below short video promoting Grier’s fictional book, How to Tell Black People Apart

The title speaks for itself. It’s funny enough and gets to the point. Watch:
