Watch: Kids React to Old Computers in Viral 'Halt and Catch Fire' Promo Video

AMC is pulling out all the stops for its new drama “Halt and Catch Fire.” Not only did they release the riveting pilot episode early on Tumblr, but they also hired YouTube comedy giants the Fine Bros. to create an episode of their “Kids React” video franchise to promote the show.

In less than two days, the video has more than 5 million views.

The extraordinary numbers should come as no surprise. Ever since “Kids Say the Darndest Things,” we’ve all enjoyed watching children use basic logic to attempt to explain or do things we adults have grown accustomed to on a day to day basis. Seeing these little ones try to turn on an ’80s era Apple — an odd choice considering the show is about the PC race against IBM — is quite amusing. Plus, the Fine Bros have become stars — and even earned a Nickelodeon show — thanks to the success of this franchise.

One tries to use voice commands. One can only get the monitor on. None of them seemed able to find the actual on switch until instructed “it’s on the back,” and then they were baffled by the blank black screen in front of them.

Yet, will the video help the show? Racking up more than 5 million views before opening night can’t hurt — and neither can the ability to click over and watch the show immediately after seeing the video — but nothing in the video screams “AMC corporate computer drama!” Will audiences make the connection and tune in for “Halt and Catch Fire?”

Check out the video for yourself below, and tune into “Halt and Catch Fire” Sunday night at 10pm.
