After winning both the audience and jury awards at Sundance this past January, Damien Chazelle’s drama “Whiplash” has found itself at Cannes. In honor of the film, which is showing as part of the Directors’ Fortnight selection, here is a clip featuring its stars, Miles Teller and J.K. Simmons.
J.K. Simmons, also known as Juno’s dad, stars as an extremely intense music professor who demands a lot from an aspiring drummer, played by Miles Teller. In the clip, which gives us real “Black Swan” vibes, Simmons has his students play the opening part of a composition, insisting that it is wrong each time. Eventually he loses it and throws a chair.
An official release date for “Whiplash” has yet to be announced, but Sony Pictures Classics is handing distribution.
Here’s the clip.
