Watch: Nicolas Cage Has 'Rage' In New Trailer for Pablo Cabezas' Action Thriller

Nicolas Cage is angry! In director Pablo Cabezas’ latest action
caper, it looks like Cage has given up on his potential ventures out of his comfort zone (like in David Gordon Green’s character study “Joe”), and returned to the high-explosion, big car chase, big paycheck films that he’s been churning out for years.

The film, which was originally titled “Tokarev,” appears to tell the
story of a man with a secretive past whose daughter is kidnapped by unknown
assailants. Sounds like a rip-off of “Taken,” doesn’t it? Cage may have
noticed the resurgence in Liam Neeson’s career after the 2008 hit and decided to
jump on the bandwagon. In his previous film, “Joe,” Cage seemed
to take a step out of his usual, brooding action hero and stretch out his acting ability. But “Rage” looks like it’s
just another step back into his usual fare. Danny Glover co-stars as what appears to be a wise old detective who encourages Cage to look into his past to decipher who would kidnap his daughter and murder her friends. Too bad Glover’s character can’t give Cage any advice on what films to choose.
