Ready to make us laugh (or smile at the very least), Comedy Central has given series orders to “Another Period” and “Idiotsitting,” and has also renewed “Inside Amy Schumer,” “Review” and “TripTank” for new seasons. In addition, five original digital series to be produced by CC: Studios and distributed across multiple platforms have been set, including “6 Guys 1 Car,” “300 Sunnyside,” “New Timers,” “Pie Guys,” “Roustabout with Kurt Braunohler” and “Team Tiger Awesome.”
Renewed for a third season, Amy Schumer’s critically-acclaimed sketch series has tackled everything from sexual politics to Aaron Sorkin (as seen below), with notable guest appearances including Paul Giamatti, Josh Charles, Zach Braff and Parker Posey.
Joining its ranks is “Another Period”, a new series that follows the misadventures of the Bellacourts, “Newport, RI’s first family” at the turn of the century — basically “Keeping Up With The Kardashians,” but set in 1901. “Idiotsitters,” will also follow suit: Created by Charlotte Newhouse and Jillian Bell (“Workaholics”), the series “follows a straight-and-narrow young woman (played by Newhouse) who is hired to babysit a mega-rich womanchild (Bell) who is under house arrest in her daddy’s mansion.”
Speaking at the announcement, Kent Alterman, President of Content Development and Original Programming, said “There are two significant things that unite this disparate slate of shows: One, they are all super funny, and two, we hope our fans agree.”
