Gathr Films Acquires Rights to 'The Return to Homs,' 'Penton: The John Penton Story' and 'I Am Eleven'

Gathr Films has announced that the acquisition of both a theatrical and On Demand the distribution rights for the documentaries “The Return to Homs” and “Penton: The John Penton Story” as well as the On Demand rights for “I Am Eleven,” another documentary feature.

“The Return to Homs,” which won the Sundance 2014 World Cinema Grand Jury Prize, was filmed over the course of three years in Homs, Syria and follows the story of two young men who must make difficult life choices in their turbulent country. The film was directed by Talal Derki and will be released in Los Angeles on June 13 and New York on July 7. 

“Penton: The John Penton Story” is a documentary film narrated by Lyle Lovett that takes a look at the life and career of the motorcycle legend. It will be released On Demand in Kansas City, Indianapolis, Boston, and Detroit starting June 23. More cities will follow.

“I Am Eleven,” directed by Australian filmmaker Genevieve Bailey, takes a hard look at childhood. It will be distributed by Gathr through its Theatrical On Demand platform starting in August 2014. “I Am Eleven” won the Audience Award at the Melbourne International Film Festival.

Gathr Head of Distribution and Acquisitions, Richard Matson, commented, “We expect these new acquisitions to play for the long haul and really strike a nerve with our core demo of passionate, engaged moviegoers with a broad world view.”
