Everyone’s favorite 84 year old director and AARP poster child Clint Eastwood, returns to the helmer’s chair for the first time since 2011’s “J. Edgar” with “Jersey Boys”, the Broadway retelling of the rise of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. In addition, Sony sends Steve Harvey’s gang to Vegas in “Think Like A Man Too”. The original TLAM opened to a surprising $33 million on its way to a $91 million total domestic take back in 2012.
On the limited release side, watch for expansions on both Focus’ “The Signal” and A24’s “The Rover” and Sony Classics offers up “Third Person”, a romantic drama with a most impressive cast which includes Liam Neeson, Mila Kunis, James Franco and Olivia Wilde from director Paul Haggis (“Crash”). There are a few smaller, mostly foreign, limited releases but none look to make any kind of impact.
Fox returns to Bollywood next week with “Humshakals”, a musical comedy (is there any other kind of Bollywood film?) with Hindi stars Saif Ali Khan and Ram Kapoor. Your Fun Fact To Know And Tell today is that Khan is one of a handful of Bollywood stars all named Khan, some of whom are related, others aren’t, The film, distributed by Fox domestically, looks to be the biggest Hindi film title on the release schedule until late July when Salman Khan’s (told you, they’re all named Khan) “Kick” is released.
