Palm Springs ShortFest Announces Lineup of Forums for 2014 Festival

The Palm Springs International ShortFest’s main draw, naturally, is its role as an Oscar launching pad: the first-place winners of each of its four competitions qualify to compete for the Academy Award.  (You can see our report on this year’s shorts lineup here.)

But, of course, there’s more than just shorts to look forward to in Palm Springs, and ShortFest has just announced its lineup of forums and panels for this year’s festival.  Two master classes are planned, one with Fandor CEO Ted Hope and another with director Allison Anders and her daughter Tiffany to discuss the use of music in film.

In addition, ShortFest has panels planned on everything from reality television to casting to publicity to festival programming.  And on the last evening of the festival, ShortFest will have its Industry Roundtables, which it describes as a “unique blind-dating formula which pairs industry professionals with festival filmmakers.”  Participants from this year include representatives of Dreamworks SKG, AMPAS, KQED, SXSW and BMI.

You can see the full list of forums and panels here, on ShortFest’s website.
