SCREEN TALK EPISODE 2: ‘Boyhood,’ ‘Jersey Boys,’ Telluride vs. Toronto Clash & More

SCREEN TALK EPISODE 2: 'Boyhood,' 'Jersey Boys,' Telluride vs. Toronto Clash & More

New York’s Indiewire critic Eric Kohn and I hit Skype again to debate movies seen and still to come.

We both adore Richard Linklater’s “Boyhood,” which didn’t make Indiewire’s mid-year critics’ poll (TOH’s picks are here) because it hasn’t been released yet. Is it a Best Picture Oscar contender? I think so, but Eric isn’t sure. Not likely to turn up in the awards race is disappointing Clint Eastwood musical entry “Jersey Boys,” which closed the Los Angeles Film Festival Thursday night. Of new pictures coming up, I’m more excited than Eric about Alejandro Gonzalez
Inarritu’s “Birdman,” which will finally hit the Telluride and/or Toronto Film Festivals. Programmers are currently screening films–and unhappy distributors will have to decide films what will go where and when under new rules.

We also make our weekend picks for new films to see.
