Watch: James McAvoy and Jessica Chastain Are 'Him' and 'Her' in 'The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby' Trailer

The first trailer for Ned Benson’s debut feature film “The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby” had just been released. The ambitious project was initially two separate films, “Him” and “Her.” They both screened at 2013 Toronto International Film Festival as a “work in progress.” Benson then reedited and unified both into “Them,” which premiered in the Un Certain Regard section of the 2014 Cannes Film Festival to positive reviews and will be seen in cinemas shortly.

The films all follow the same plot: Eleanor (Jessica Chastain) and Conor (James McAvoy) try to deal with the fallout over their infant child’s death. The intimate perspective frames of the storytelling though allows insight into their individual lives, shedding far more light onto their characters and this traditional narrative. Eric Kohn wrote in his review, “Whatever happens with it, “Eleanor Rigby” at the very least succeeds at depicting the ambiguity of communication embedded in every relationship.”

The film features a strong ensemble supporting cast, too, with Bill Hader, Jess Weixler, Isabelle Huppert, Viola Davis, William Hurt and Nina Arianda. It will be released in theaters September 26th. Check out the trailer below:
