Laurence Fishburne co-stars alongside Brenton Thwaites in Will Eubank’s indie sci-fi thriller “The Signal” which opens in theaters today.
The story centers on 3 college freshmen who become targets of a rival computer hacker, and who are lured to an abandoned shack in the middle of the desert. Suddenly everything goes dark. When one of the students, Nic (Thwaites), regains consciousness, he is in a waking nightmare…
Olivia Cooke, Beau Knapp, Sarah Clarke, Lin Shaye and Robert Longstreet round out the cast.
Principal photography took place last summer in New Mexico, with Automatic and Low Spark producing.
Focus Features acquired USA distribution rights for the film, and is opening it in a limited theatrical release starting today.
Currently, with 52 reviews in, Rotten Tomatoes rates it a 54% *Fresh*, with an aggregate summary that reads:
Director William Eubank clearly has big ideas and an impressive level of technical expertise; unfortunately, “The Signal” fritters them away on a poorly constructed story.
