Emma Roberts and Zachary Quinto Join James Franco's 'Ex-Gay' Project

James Franco’s latest addition to his endless catalogue of queer-themed projects is a drama about an anti-gay pastor who himself was “once gay,” and the film has added two new cast members: Zachary Quinto and Emma Roberts, the former playing one of Franco’s character’s ex-boyfriends, the latter playing his post-gay girlfriend.

The film will be called “Michael,”  and is based on the New York Times article “My Ex-Gay Friend” by Benoit Denizet-Lewis about Michael Glatze, a homophobic Christian minister from Wyoming who had basically once been a gay activist  (read the Times article here).

Justin Kelly will direct the film, while Gus Van Sant is set as an executive producer. It’s definitely a promising project, but one that will have to be handled very carefully to be pulled off…
