No longer the erotic haven for soccer moms across America, “Fifty Shades of Grey” is now a full-blown pop-culture phenomenon that Universal hopes will boost its Q1 earnings. Yes, the “Fifty Shades of Grey” motion picture trailer has landed.
Aside from observing the ways it might be reworked into a mock trailer about a serial killer luring a young woman, the material looks awfully bland, speaking for both Sam Taylor-Johnson’s drab aesthetics and the chemistry (or lack thereof) between Jamie Dornan’s Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson’s Anastasia Steele. One hopes the movie itself, produced by Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti and written by Kelly Marcel (“Saving Mr. Banks”) is not as timid as this.
