Writers and Critics! Review An Indie Classic, Get Published and Win a Year-Long Supply of Film (Here's How)

All this week we have teamed up with the folks over at MUBI to offer aspiring (or established!) writers and film-lovers the chance to win a year’s supply of Indie film. All you have to do is write a review (more on this below). The best 6 will win a year-long subscription to MUBI and we’ll publish them here.

What we want from you:

1. To win a year long subscription to MUBI you need to write a short review of one of these classic indie films: Todd Haynes’ “Poison” and Gus Van Sant’s “Mala Noche” both of which just so happen to be up on MUBI right now.

2. If you’re in the US sign up for a 7 day free for MUBI trial and watch “Poison” here.

3. If you’re in the UK sign up for a 7 day free for MUBI trial and watch “Mala Noche” here.

If you’re not in either country you can find another way to watch the film and of course still enter the competition, but if you are US/UK based take advantage of the chance for some free high-quality viewing!

4. Once
you’ve watched either film write a short review (between 100 – 400
words). This can take whatever form you like, and, of course, it
doesn’t have to be
positive. We are looking for responses which show real engagement with
the film from a true film-lover.

4. Send your review to thebentblog@gmail.com by Thursday July 31 at 11.59 pm.

5.
We’ll publish the winning reviews (unless you don’t want us to). We’ll
choose 3 of “Poison” and 3 of “Mala Noche”. And if you win, you’ll spend the next year as part of the MUBI community, completely free.

I haven’t heard of MUBI, why should I want a year-long subscription to it?!

MUBI is a curated online cinema that brings its audience cult, classic, independent, and award-winning movies. Available in over 200 countries around the globe and on multiple devices, a subscription to MUBI is a passport to the world of cinema. Every day their film experts introduce a great film, which is available for a whole month to watch. That’s 365 films a year curated especially for a film-loving audience. Usually, of course, you pay monthly for the service. Still not sure you want a free year’s subscription?
