Talking Heads’ David Byrne presented the 30th anniversary digitally restored 1984 music documentary of the legendary performances in “Stop Making Sense” at Lincoln Center last week and submitted to a Q & A. In the clip below, he talks about how he and director Jonathan Demme (“The Silence of the Lambs,” “Philadelphia”) collaborated on bringing the stage show to the screen with cinematographer Jordan Cronenweth, and where some of the ideas behind the show came from–mostly the indie downtown arts scene of the period.
