Jason Reitman's 'Men, Women & Children' Will Follow Toronto Premiere with October Release

Paramount is pushing Jason Reitman’s “Men, Women & Children” into the early awards season corridor. This adaptation of the Chad Kultgen novel about modern American sexual frustration will open in limited release on October 3 before going wider October 17, per HitFix.

The film premieres first in September at Toronto, where Reitman will stick to his Canadian roots rather than Telluride as per usual, a la last year’s “Labor Day,” which didn’t click with audiences (or voters, for that matter). This is also a consequence of festival politics, as Toronto attempts to hold onto its world-premiere thunder.

Starring Ansel Elgort, Adam Sandler, Judy Greer, Jennifer Garner, Emma Thompson, Dean Norris, Dennis Haysbert, Rosemarie DeWitt and JK Simmons, “Men, Women & Children” sounds, on paper at least, more along the lines of Reitman’s “Young Adult” (2011). Reitman has drifted out of the awards conversation since his Best Picture nominee “Up in the Air” back in 2009. He’s focusing, instead, on making the films he wants to make.

Here’s the teaser.
