Certainly proving that “Love Is Strange”, Alfred Molina and John Lithgow play two longtime companions who finally tie the knot and are looking forward to their golden years when a job loss causes the two to have to live separately to save money. Director Ira Sachs helmed the underrated “Married Life” back in 2007 and has assembled a supporting cast that includes Marisa Tomei, Cheyenne Jackson and Manny Perez. The film isn’t going to break box office records but should play well on both coasts.
Two childhood friends take a road trip to claim a family inheritance in Millenium’s “Are You Here”, starring Owen Wilson, Zach Galifianakis and Amy Poehler. The film is directed by Matthew Weiner, whose previous credits include directing seasons of both “Mad Men” and “The Sopranos”. The film will be released simultaneously on VOD.
“The One I Love” is not the story of R.E.M., but rather a romantic comedy starring indie fave Mark Duplass and (speaking of “Mad Men”) Elisabeth Moss. Radius will go with 9 runs this week and, in the interest of openness and honestly, the film has been out on VOD since August 1st.
