Project of the Day: ‘S&M Sally’

Project of the Day: 'S&M Sally'

Here’s your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

S&M Sally

Tweetable Logline: A provocative queer comedy about sex, love and the most important question of all – who’s on top?

Elevator Pitch: When Jamie finds out her girlfriend Jill has spent time exploring BDSM, her insecurities about falling behind in the bedroom push her to propose that they start going to underground clubs. Identifying as the butch one in a traditional butch/femme couple, Jamie assumes she will take the dominant role in their escapades with Jill as her submissive, but Jill has ideas of her own. A provocative and hilarious ride, “S&M Sally” details the unexpected journey that happens when your insecurities push you outside of your comfort zone, leading you down a path for which there is no going back.

Production Team:
Michelle Ehlen – Director / Writer
David Au – Producer
Charlie Vaughn – Producer

About the film: I’m very excited about the prospect of bringing this story to life. I love the way it pushes the envelope just a little further than what we’re used to seeing on screen, the way it expands into a fuller spectrum of queer identity, and how it explores the funny, awkward and sometimes shifting dynamics that can exist within a relationship. The story resonates with me through the way it shows the universal albeit unconventional journey of imperfect people finding more authentic versions of themselves.

Current Status: Fundraising, in pre-production.
