SnagFilms has acquired the distribution rights to “Sewing Hope,” a documentary about Sister Rosemary Nyirumbe, who runs a vocational school for women who have been kidnapped or sexually assaulted by members of the guerrilla group led by Joseph Kony, the Lord’s Resistance Army. Sister Nyirumbe helps these traumatized women take back control of their lives by providing them with a delicate combination of psychological and educational support.
Narrated by Forest Whitaker, “Sewing Hope” is a lesson in courage and resourcefulness. SnagFilms CEO Rick Allen calls the film “powerful proof of individual action and a beautiful story of happiness and meaning returning for those who knew only despair.” Sister Nyirumbe has been designated a 2014 Time 100 Honoree and a CNN Hero.
“Sewing Hope” has screened at the San Luis Obispo, Napa Valley and Sarasota Film Festivals. It is slated to premiere this fall.
