Is this going to be remembered as Apple Inc.’s great comeback?
The company’s grand announcements of wearables and a new iPhone model http://projects.marketwatch.com/2014/nows-the-time-to-own-apple-iphone-timeline/ has created a sizable buzz on Wall Street and Main Street alike.
Apple hasn’t seemed this newsworthy since the late, great Steve Jobs ran the company, until his death in 2011. It was widely maligned for failing to dive into the wearables movement. Check! It also has the cushion of another new hone, which always gets people in a buying frenzy.
Apple still has to show that it can market this new product successfully. Marketing was always Jobs’ greatest secret strength. He had an unerring instinct for making people feel that they had to own the latest phone or iPad or whatever else Apple set loose form the lab.
The pressure is on Tim Cook to escape Steve Jobs’ past. The Apple CEO is resourceful and confident. Will that be enough to forget a big comeback?
