“Low Down,” from director Jeff Priess, is based on Amy-Jo Albany’s memoir of growing up in the care of a talented, but frequently absent, musician. Elle Fanning stars as Amy, whose father Joe (John Hawkes) struggles to find gigs, maintain his heroin addiction and stay out of jail. Amy had little resources other than the help of her aging grandmother (Glenn Close) and a ragtag bunch of Hollywood eccentrics.
Fanning won Best Actress at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and cinematographer Christopher Blauvelt also earned accolades for his raw, hand-held work in the film.
“Low Down” will be released by Oscilloscope on October 24 in New York and October 31 in Los Angeles. Check out the exclusive poster below:
