AFI Fest has announced that J.C. Chandor’s third feature film, “A Most Violent Year,” will world premiere on the opening night of the festival.
Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain co-star as a married couple living in New York City, trying their hardest to harness the ever-elusive American Dream. The film takes place in 1981, which is, as the title suggests, one of the most violent years on record in the history of the city. Albert Brooks, David Oyelowo, Alessandro Nivola, Elyes Gabel and Catalina Sandino Moreno co-star.
As announced at the end of last month, the festival will honor Italian actress Sophia Loren with a special Tribute on Wednesday November 12.
The 2014 edition of the AFI Fest will be held November 6-13 in Hollywood at the historic TCL Chinese Theatre, the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres, the Egyptian Theatre and the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. A24 will release “A Most Violent Year” theatrically on December 31.
