“The Hunger Games” isn’t just about blockbuster movies, it’s also about blockbuster soundtracks. With the folks behind the franchise managing to nab contributions from Arcade Fire, Taylor Swift, Coldplay, The National, Neko Case and Imagine Dragons for the the last two movies, they’ve secured the participation of the hottest recording artist of the last two years for this year’s franchise installment. None other than Lorde has recorded the lead single for the movie, and you can hear the tune below.
The synth heavy “Yellow Flicker Beat” puts a darker shade to Lorde’s more stadium ready hits, but perhaps that’s appropriate for a tentpole series set in a dystopian future where kids are forced to kill each other in a cruel game. But either way, you won’t be humming this on your home from work or school or wherever you listen to this. Press play below and we’ll wait to see who joins Lorde on the forthcoming soundtrack.
