Stranger Than Fiction Documentary Series Fall 2014 Lineup Honors D.A. Pennebaker and Chris Hegedus

The two filmmakers will be present at screenings of their films and also participate in a Q&As. The season will open up with the 1979 film “Town Bloody Hall,” which marked the first collaboration between the filmmakers. Pennebaker’s “Jane,” “65 Revisited” and “Original Cast Album: Company” will also show. Other films that showcase the teaming up of Pennebaker and Hegedus (“Depeche Mode 101,” “Moon Over Broadway,” “The War Room”) will screen as part of the series as well.

“This is the first time STF has ever devoted a full season to one filmmaking team,” Artistic Director Thom Powers said. “It spans over 50 years of time and traces the history of modern American documentary making.”

Although the series officially begins on September 23 at the IFC Center and will continue every Tuesday for eight weeks, a special pre-screening of “Bronx Obama” will show on September 18.
