Another season’s worth of work and paychecks for Taye Diggs, as TNT has ordered a second season of its scripted detective drama series “Murder in the First,” from Steven Bochco, which Kathleen Robertson co-stars in.
The series premiered on June 9, at 10/9c.
Tom Felton, Mimi Kirkland, Raphael Sbarge, Ian Anthony Dale, Bess Rous and Steven Weber round out the cast.
TNT initially ordered 10 episodes of the San Francisco-set detective drama, which is being produced by TNT Originals, and has ordered a 10-episode second season.
Over the summer, “Murder in the First” took viewers deep inside a complex homicide investigation that spanned the entire season. The series followed San Francisco homicide detectives Terry English (Diggs) and Hildy Mulligan (Robertson) as they investigated 2 seemingly unrelated murders which they soon found had a common denominator in a Silicon Valley wunderkind.
In its first season, Murder in the First averaged more than 4.7 million viewers in Live + 7 delivery. The drama drew a sizeable audience through TNT’s various platforms, according to the network, reaching an average of 9.2 million viewers through live television viewing, DVR playback, set-top VOD and digital on-demand.
The series, which is executive produced by Emmy winner Steven Bochco (“NYPD Blue”) and Eric Lodal, ranked as one of basic cable’s Top 10 series of the summer.
