Anyone who follows a lot of critics on Twitter knows that they’re very vocal about the stresses of having to finish god knows how many reviews or pieces in a short period of time, particularly whenever festival season is underway. It’s exhausting work, but at the same time they’re getting paid to write about the latest films from major directors and up-and-coming talent, so some of the complaining gets a little silly. Apparently someone familiar with the Film Twitter community decided to take their sentiments and exaggerate them to the point of absurdity with Toronto Film Critic (@tofilmcritic), and the results are pretty funny.
Some of TFC’s tweets satirize the hassles of critics trying to get accredited for festivals:
About to pick up my #TIFF14 accreditation. Can’t believe they won’t courier it to me. I’m a busy man with movies to watch!!

Some cover the complaints that come with shifting Press and Industry screening times:
#TIFF14 announces late P&I schedule changes. I announce my intentions to sever the hearts and minds of modern men. You announce revolution.

For anyone who finds those a bit too insider-y, they’ll probably still get a kick out of the account’s parody of snobbier-than-thou critical tendencies:
If you don’t like FORCE MAJEUR than why are you even alive? Seriously, here’s a knife. DO US A FAVOUR.

Ain’t no party like a Dardennes party because a Dardennes party is depressing.

Anyone who thinks THE JUDGE is Oscar material should have their #TIFF14 accreditation revoked http://t.co/1QTLskAkWg pic.twitter.com/sp2wR7zXEE

No word yet on who’s behind the account – Torontoist’s John Semley says it isn’t him or co-worker Angelo Muredda, despite early guesses that it might be one of them. At any rate, the account is well worth a look for anyone who’s either familiar with the self-seriousness of much of Film Twitter or someone curious about what exactly critics act like during the Film Critic Christmas that is festival season. Those who are a part of Film Twitter: it’s always good to be able to laugh at yourselves every now and then.
