Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa will broaden its entertainment offering on DStv across Africa with the launch of two new 24-hour kids and family channels from Nickelodeon, while also extending the reach of general entertainment channel BET International in South Africa.
With the launch of Nick Jr., Nicktoons and BET International on 30 September, VIMN Africa now delivers more TV channels than any other international media company on the continent, with a total of eight distinct entertainment brands. This expansion of its portfolio, which also includes MTV, MTV Base, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon and VH1 Classic, increases VIMN Africa’s offering of high quality content to audiences across all key age demographics.

Nick Jr., set to launch on the DStv Premium package in South Africa (DStv channel 307) is a safe, positive and entertaining destination for pre-schoolers 3-5 years old. Key programmes on the channel will include familiar friends such as Dora the Explorer, Bubble Guppies, Go, Diego, Go! and Paw Patrol, with a host of brand new series due to launch in 2015, including Dora & Friends, Blaze and the Monster Machines, and Shimmer & Shine.
Nicktoons (DStv channel 308) will be available on DStv Family, Compact, Extra and Premium packages in South Africa. The channel offers a mix of current and classic programmes appealing not only to kids aged 4-9, but also to the entire family. The channel will feature series from Nickelodeon´s famous animation library, including The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, T.U.F.F. Puppy, Back to the Barnyard, Avatar, and Fanboy & Chum Chum, and timeless favourites such as Rugrats and The Wild Thornberrys.
Launching on DStv Family, Compact, Extra and Premium packages in South Africa (DStv channel 135), BET International is a fun, relevant and inspirational general entertainment channel for lovers of black culture aged 16-49, providing viewers with what’s hot, what’s next and what matters. Combining chat, drama, reality, documentary, comedy, music, movies and more, key programmes include The Wendy Williams Show, Being Mary Jane, Real Husbands of Hollywood, The BET Awards, BET Hip Hop Awards, BET Honors, 106 & Park, Sunday Best, Comic View and Vindicated.
