If you ever thought that mashing up “Hitch” and “Wedding Crashers” would be a great idea, we must inform you that Sony is way ahead of you. Next year, the studio will release “The Wedding Ringer,” which conjoins matrimonial madness and cool-guy-helping-awkward-nerd story lines.
Kevin Hart and Josh Gad star in a comedy that finds a friendless groom-to-be hiring the services of an outsider to help him with a simple problem: he’s got no best man or groomsmen for his wedding. And what follows is hilarity, apparently. Here’s the synopsis:
Doug Harris (Josh Gad) is a loveable but socially awkward groom-to-be with a problem: he has no best man. With less than two weeks to go until he marries the girl of his dreams (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting), Doug is referred to Jimmy Callahan (Kevin Hart), owner and CEO of Best Man, Inc., a company that provides flattering best men for socially challenged guys in need. What ensues is a hilarious wedding charade as they try to pull off the big con, and an unexpected budding bromance between Doug and his fake best man Jimmy.
“The Wedding Ringer” arrives on January 16th. Watch below.
