Watch: Oscar Winner Eric Roth Tells You How To Write a Screenplay

This Academy Originals video, a documentary-style original series produced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, explores the innovative system on which renowned filmmakers work to create the classics that have defined cinematic history. It’s primarily done for the study of the filmmakers of the future, but also for our entertainment today.

This week they released an exclusive video interview with screenwriter Eric Roth about his creative schedule, mannerisms, and inventive process used to build scripts lush with pulp storytelling and filtered through his artistic voice. The interview discusses the decades-old script writing software Roth utilizes as well as the close relationship that grows between himself and the characters he writes as he writes them.
