Watch: Virginia Madsen Remembers 'Network' in the Academy's 'Let's Go to the Movies' Series

In the latest episode of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Science’s project, “Let’s Go to the Movies,” Virginia Madsen details her appreciation for the 1977 Oscar winning film “Network.”
In the video, the “Sideways” star details how the film is actually quite current and how she felt as a film fanatic, watching it on the big screen. She finds the film particularly relevant since it explored the idea of reality TV, which has become even more popular in the decades since it came out.
As the lauded actress watches the film at the Egyptian on Hollywood Boulevard, she nostalgically recalls going to the movies when she was growing up, and the importance of seeing films on the big screen as opposed to watching them on a computer screen. “When you’re in the theater, you are in the experience,” Madsen said.
Some highlights of the video include her commentary on Sidney Lumet’s direction and when Madsen tells her movie date, actor Nick Holmes, about meeting Faye Dunaway on the red carpet. Watch the video below:
