The Austin Film Festival & Screenwriters Conference has announced the programming for the 21st annual Austin Film Festival, which will be held October 23-30.
The festival’s competition boasts a high volume of world premieres — 15 premieres, with 20 countries represented. These will include Gravitas Venture’s biographical documentary “21 Years: Richard Linklater,” Bravo’s upcoming series “A Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce,” and Amplify’s “Dawn Patrol” – a film whose script was discovered via AFF’s Screenplay Competition.
Other highlights of the festival will include recent festival favorites such as: “Wild,” “Escobar: Paradise Lost,” “The Imitation Game,” “The Sound and the Fury,” “The Homesman,” “Black and White,” and “Big Hero 6.”
AFF boasts a robust retrospective program, with big names presenting eclectic selections. Matthew Weiner will appear presenting episodes from “The Twilight Zone”; Jim Sheridan and Terry George will present “In the Name of the Father”; Jenny Lumet (daughter of Sidney) presenting “Network” and Randall Wallace presenting “Braveheart.”
The festival’s Screenwriters Conference will take place during the first four days of the Festival (October 23-26), and will feature writers from some of the past year’s biggest blockbusters — “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “12 Years a Slave,” “American Hustle,” — as well as from hotly-anticipated titles: “Fifty Shades of Grey,” “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay,” and “Top Gun 2.”
