Pacino plays Angelo Manglehorn, a lonely locksmith who mostly keeps to himself because he has never quite managed to overcome the death of the love of his life. The film centers on the rather unexpected, tentative friendship that develops between Manglehorn and a female bank employee.
According to Sundance Selects and IFC Films President Jonathan Sehring, “This film is a testament to David’s ability to bring out both the humor and melancholy of everyday life.”
Sehring described “Manglehorn” as Green’s “most mature, introspective work to date,” — praising Pacino for giving such “a touchingly restrained performance.”
“Manglehorn” premiered at the Venice International Film Festival last month. IFC Films has yet to announce a release date.
