Casting: Steve Carell May Be A 'Nuisance' For Gore Verbinski, Keanu Reeves Goes Sci-Fi In 'Replicas' And More

When you’re hot, the projects start falling out of the sky, and with “Foxcatcher” heating up the awards season, Steve Carell likely has his pick of the crop. And on the list might be “Gregory The Nuisance” from director Gore Verbinski. The comedy follow a a filmmaker who goes to North Korea, which is about it for the plot details, and it sounds (based on that very basic info) not unlike Seth Rogen and James Franco‘s upcoming “The Interview.” The plan is to shoot in Serbia next winter, but we’ll see if this one comes together or not. Keanu Reeves is dipping back into the world of sci-fi with “Replicas.” The actor will star in the Tanya Wexler-directed movie with the following logline: “After a car accident kills his loving family, a daring neuroscientist (Reeves) will stop at nothing to bring them back, even if it means pitting himself against a government-controlled laboratory, a police task force, and the physical laws of science themselves.” So, an even more genre-y “John Wick“? Production starts next year. [The Wrap]

Lifetime‘s “Marilyn” has found its lead. Kelli Garner (“Pan Am“) will play Marilyn Monroe in a movie that chronicles the famed actress who “walks red carpets in shimmering gowns while fighting a battle against demons she’s inherited from her mentally ill mother Gladys (Susan Sarandon), whom she loves, hates and wants desperately to save. Marilyn becomes the Face and Voice of an era, yet wants most of all to be someone’s mother and someone’s little girl.” The movie will air in 2015. [Deadline]

Christopher Walken, Amber Heard, Oliver Platt, Kelli Garner, Ann Magnuson, and Hamish Linklater will star in the dramedy “When I Live My Life Over Again.” Robert Edwards wrote the script and directs this one about “Jude, the daughter of a famous crooner Paul Lombard who becomes her worst nightmare as he plots his big comeback.” [Screen Daily]
